Valco made, English Electronics Tonemaster Rhythm Tone guitar.
Similar to a Supro Sahara or Val-Pro 84, the Tonemaster “Rhythm Tone” is an awesome axe for blues or rock, and simply killer for slide.
Lawrence English was a music teacher in Lansing,MI. He had the Valco company of Chicago build a line of lap steels and amps with his brand English Electronics. This looks like a Supro because it was made by the same company. Valco built instruments under names such as Supro, Oahu, Airline,National, but English Electronics seems to be the rarest.
This Tonemaster guitar is in gleaming beautiful condition. It’s all original , from its Raven Black finish to chrome stair-stepped tailpiece, to Kluson tuners and the English Tonemaster logo on the headstock is straight out of 1950s industrial design.
This gutiar has all the great trademark components of the era: Kluson tuners with unique buttons, split level pickgaurd, step tailpiece, giant wooden bridge with acoustic pickup built in and...the legendary Valco single coil pickup.
Disguised as a humbucker, this single coil screams like nothing else. These guitars are meant to play the Blues. They are absolutely killer for slide guitar! This is a wood body, not fiberglass, but it still sounds great!
Original and super cool case included.
