About This Listing

Up for sale, a 1988 Greco RJ-85 in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. A faithful recreation of the Gretsch Roc Jet made at the Fujigen factory in Japan, this rare guitar easily rivals subsequent Gretsch production.

Tonewoods include a mahogany body, three-piece mahogany neck, and a bound rosewood fretboard, and at 9lbs 6oz this Greco has a warm, resonant acoustic response with a broad midrange faithfully captured by the stock pair of G-Tron pickups. Greco’s interpretation of Gretsch's Filter’Tron design, these pickups offer round, punchy notes on the wound strings and plenty of chewy treble sparkle. Meaty-sounding in all pickup positions and taking gain very well, the humbuckers have an overarching smooth, midrange-forward character. This Greco has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.

The gloss White finish shows subtle yellowing of the clear coat, and the back of the body has a pair of tan lines from previously removed stickers. Cosmetic wear includes a number of minor dings along the body perimeter, very faint buckle rash on the back, and a handful of minor marks on the body as a whole. The neck profile retains its smooth gloss, with a couple shallow nicks along the profile length that don't distract the palm while fretting.

A gigbag is included.
