1969 Thomas Haile Banjo Custom

Up for sale is a very scarce custom instrument. Custom ordered in 1969 from Kentucky banjo maker Thomas Halie. 26 1/2“ scale 5 string model.

Action is low, no buzz. Straight neck and requires no adjustment at this time. Ebony fretboard with complete custom inlays. Maple neck and Maple resonator. Marquetry on the neck at the edges of the fretboard.

Original owner was an accomplished female player from Michigan. typically this builder put his name on the truss rod cover. This is a unique example because the original buyers name is on the truss rod cover with the builders on the opposite side as I have it installed currently. This required the bulder to move his name to the head In MOP.

The resonator has been repaired several times due to the weight of the pot Causing cracks over-the years but is quite reinforced now. One side of the carry handle on the included case has cracked.

Original Star Planet geared tuners. Brass construction. Nice playing warm sounding banjo. Could use a new head skin as its quite old but functions fine and imparts a vintage look. Internal parts unmarked.

Please follow the YouTube link. I listed a fairly in depth video on the instrument. Hopefully the photos and video will answer your questions.
