About This Listing
Up for sale, a 2018 Gibson RD Artist limited run bass in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and case candy. The RD Artist bass was originally released in the late ‘70s as Gibson’s first bass with active electronics. This short run, discontinued model recaptures the power and versatility of the original, with premium features including a three-point full-contact Babicz bridge and parametric active EQ.
Tonewoods include a maple body and maple neck capped with a thick slab rosewood fretboard, and at 11lbs 4oz, this bass dishes out tons of natural sustain, punch and clarity, qualities faithfully captured by the pair of Rhythm/Lead EB humbuckers. Big and bold-sounding, these pickups have plenty of lower-midrange oomph and throaty cut, and the highly flexible active EQ allows for bright burp or subwoofer thump. This RD Artist has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-100 roundwound strings, easy-playing action, and spot-on intonation.
