Up for sale, a 1981 Greco EG600C Super Power Custom in perfect working order, finished in Violin Burst and loaded with a pair of Dimarzio PAF humbuckers. Crafted at Japan's Fujigen factory during the most highly regarded (and brief) era of Greco's production, the “Super Real" instruments deliver the goods, capturing many of the finer points of vintage Gibson spec. And while no legal action was taken against Greco for these guitars, Gibson did commission the same factory to make their "Orville" line of instruments which were exclusively sold within Japan.

Modeled after the Les Paul Custom, the EG600C features a carved three-piece maple top paired with a solid mahogany body, and a mahogany neck capped with a bound rosewood fingerboard. It's an lively and powerful sounding instrument, and the craftsmanship is evident in the great playability and classic range of Les Paul tones. The upgraded pair of era-correct vintage DiMarzio PAF humbuckers are rich and articulate, with growl and power in the bridge position, balanced by a present, smooth neck pickup. For saturated lead lines that truly sing while being equal parts thick and clear, the neck position humbucker roars. This Greco weighs 8lbs 15oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The mahogany neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with good shoulders, measuring .840” deep at the 1st fret and .975” at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard features pearloid block inlay, with fret-edge binding on the flawless medium jumbo fretwire. This guitar plays cleanly up the 24 3/4“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the bone nut measures 1 11/16” in width. The headstock sports split diamond inlay and a “Super Real Custom”-embossed truss rod cover, and the Greco-branded tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch. The back of the headstock retains the EG600 model sticker, and the B81-prefix serial dates to February, 1981.

All of the electronics function as intended, and the vintage Dimarzio PAF humbuckers are wired to the original harness with full-size Japanese pots that date to October of ‘80. The gold-plated ABR-1-style bridge and corresponding stop bar show patina through the gold plating, and original plastics comprise the quartet of witch hat knobs, the switch surround and pickup rings, while the rear control cavity cover is a modern replacement (still retaining its protective factory film).

The gloss Violin Burst finish exhibits a number of minor dings on the body as a whole, largely concentrated along the lower bout perimeter and on the back, as well as some limited buckle worming on the back, and some scuffing on the top along the strum path. The neck profile retains its gloss finish, with several shallow marks along the profile length that don't distract the palm while fretting.

A Gator-brand gigbag is included, along with a pickguard.
