Up for sale is this vintage 1950's Harmony H-42 Stratotone Newport electric guitar. While the green version is common, the yellow finish is fairly odd to see and generally a little time passes before another one shows up, so we are honored to offer this one!

This instrument is in good condition for its age, but the original finish shows heavy wear. The finish is down to the wood around the edges, there are numerous dings, scratches, and scuffs, and the entire guitar shows finish checking. There looks to be some very, very old brown adhesive paper on the back of the body (clearly seen in the photos), but we have not tried to remove it. To be honest, the guitar truly looks great with as much vintage mojo as can be desired!

The instrument is all original with the exception of the strap buttons. There are no extra holes or repairs, no funny business. The electronics are stock and the pickup is insanely gnarly when overdriven. The original concentric pot works as it should and controls the volume and the tone, unless you're using the switch to bypass the tone control. The original bridge is the string through design and is lifting slightly in the middle, as is typical on these which is why you normally see tailpieces added to them. The tuners function as they should, but several of the keys are bent.

Playability, we'd call this one average. The neck is straight, but the action is high and gets higher up the neck as is typical with these. If you're not playing slide, there are some buzzy frets due to fret wear and the fretboard is divoted in some spots. This guitar was obviously played and enjoyed a lot over the years and, to be completely honest, with a slide and some gain it's very, very easy to see why.

A modern, but used, gig bag will be included and the instrument will be well-packed to ensure safe shipping. These cool trimmed out yellow Stratotones do not show up often so, if you're on the hunt, don't wait around and miss out...
