About This Listing

Many vintage collectors agree: the Maton Fyrbyrd of the '60s is one of the finest Australian guitars ever made. It's becoming harder and harder to find an original these days, and when you do, you'd better be prepared to shell out $3,000 or more!

Originally intended as an affordable alternative to the Stratocaster, the Fyrbyrd was picked up by plenty of rock and surf players throughout the '60s and can be heard on countless Aussie rock recordings of the time. We could continue on and write  a novel here on the fantastic history of this guitar, but thankfully that's already been done! Check out , the most comprehensive guide that exists for all things to do with Vintage Matons.

The Eastwood "Sharkbite" Fyrbyrd pays tribute to the original in great detail, including its quirky upper horn cutout and oversized headstock. Its three individual on/off pickup selectors and rotary sound control switch give you plenty of options to dial in the tone you need; from surf to punk, and everything in between!
