Here's one of the most desirable Polytone Mini Brutes from the celebrated diamond Tolex era. 1983 to be exact. I bought this Mini Brute III recently, have done some minor cosmetic restoration and now it's ready for its next happy home!
I've been a fan of Polytone since my first Mini Brute in 1978 and am drawn to their no-nonsense utility and unique sonic footprint.
While all Polytone amps have a clean, dry, mid-focused response, no two are exactly alike. The original OEM Eminence 4 Ohm speaker is key to the diamond Tolex sound: fatter and less scooped than the CTS drivers from previous years. This 1983 Mini Brute III has a thick, powerful, low midrange: awesome for archtop guitar and a perfect match for your ES-175.
Electronics work flawlessly and amp idles without noise or hum.
Excellent cosmetic condition. Chrome hardware is bright and shiny. Tolex in very good shape, but does have some minor scratches and dings. Replacement OEM foam grill is in great shape but delicate and should be handled carefully. Polytone badge is missing from grill. Original rubber feet were disintegrating so I replaced with sturdier ones.
Features
Controls: volume, bass, treble, treble boost/cut switch
Ins/outs: hi/lo inputs, 1/4" line out, extension speaker out
