About This Listing

Very Good condition, 7,5/10, Made in USA, including original square tweed hardcase with yellow lining, the volume potentiometer works but has a bad sweep so almost like an on/off function (perhaps a future owner will want to replace this pot but we leave it as it is), original tuners with deteriorating tips, original bakelite brown knobs, the body´s end is wood, the logo says Rickenbacher Electro Los Angeles, more info: Much like Fender, Rickenbacker are another company with a rich heritage in lapsteel instruments, and were the first company to successfully mass produce lapsteel guitars for a growing market, with many of the design elements carried on in to their electric guitar production. This Rickenbacker J-6 is a great example of a student Rickenbacker lapsteel from the start of F.C Halls ownership of the company. Although initially launched by Adolph Rickenbacker in 1953, it didn't make its way in to a catalog until 1957, it features a resonant folded steel hollowbody design with a wooden back, giving it a particular resonance both amplified and unplugged. Fitted with the renowned horseshoe pickup, the sound is clear and defined, with this particular lapsteel having a warmer sound than others we have played. This lapsteel also features the metal plate headstock logo as opposed to the decal found on other models.

Product Overview
The Rickenbacker Model B went through a few "post-war" changes in the mid-1940s, with a metal insert appearing in the neck, the width of the pickup magnet going from 1 1/2" to 1 1/4", as well as the pickup adjustable with Phillips head screws. The "T-Shape" logo on the headstock is also introduced here in 1946 but is gone by 1950.
