About This Listing

1971 Gibson SG deluxe version. Was originally walnut, previous owner (ca. 1992) attempted to deglaze finish. Surrounds affected on control plate, no H.B. covers, no triangular pickguard.

Some rough spots on the necks trim markers, but very playable

I consider this a Players grade, thin neck, screamin' action/H.B., I restained to cherry color, with thin nitro application, shows wear, plays great and is vintage for the '70's. Knobs are all replacements, two from a '60's Gibson 335, two plain knobs, (tone casing knob is cracked, but functional.) Case is a hardshell, solidbody style.

Product Overview
The Gibson SG Deluxe was released, essentially, in conjunction with the Les Paul Deluxe to give players an updated version of the classic SG. This new SG Deluxe sported such appointments as a Bigsby tailpiece, a decidedly more "Les Paul" shaped pickguard, and a semi-circular control cover plate.
