This is the famous Beauregard "Facettes" 16" archtop. Single Ken Armstrong pickup. This is a copy of the instrument Mario made for the famous "Red Guitar" collection commissioned by Jacques-André Dupont. See:
Bruce Foreman is playing the original one in the link. The concept behind the "facettes" is the Facettes violin made by Mario Lamarre. It uses the "Chladni" lines which constitute the musical nodes of a violin to carve the arch in multiple curves.
The result is an unusually resonant top with more complex overtones than the conventional compound arch of a Jazz guitar.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------From the maker:
"The facettes archtop is a very special project that was initially subsidized by ” Le Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec” and based on the work of Mario Lamarre’s violins, cellos and double basses. This guitar is a limited edition series.
The facettes are all hand carved, inside and out and the top plate supports a unique parallel bracing system . The result is a modern instrument with incredible acoustic qualities."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------This is a $30,000++ instrument and a two year wait if ordered new. This one is priced at a steep discount because it suffered damage to the tailpiece and end cap. They were expertly repaired in Los Angeles, but nonetheless, this instrument is both used and repaired. The tailpiece required cleaning and refinishing and re-mounting. The binding on the tail of the guitar was broken and needed to be replaced. The surrounding binding to the edge of the rounded corners was replaced with largely matching binding, but it can never be an exact match as the original was a continuous strip of koa wood.
It is settup with a low action and 11-49 strings..
It plays and sounds as the original.
