Let's ring in the new year with another fun item, and here is this used and working Cambridge Soundworks CD Radio 745. The 745 was further update of Henry Koss' compact tabletop stereo units that he designed for Cambridge Soundworks in the early 2000's. This is a fully featured CD player with AM and FM receiver, and it features a 3.5mm auxiliary input, so you can add whatever audio unit you would want: you can use it to play a cassette, iPod, turntable with a preamp, or stream with a blue tooth adapter. On top of all that, it also can function as an alarm clock with sleep timer, and the digital display can decode and display Radio Data Service data (typically program or music titles) transmitted by some FM stations as well as CD-text and ID3 text stored on most MP3 and WMA files. And it sounds great. The internal 2.1 speaker system has plenty of bass and balanced audio, and it is plenty loud. There are two amp circuits, one for the front firing stereo speakers and another for the down firing sub. This one works perfectly, all display lights work, it sounds great, and it comes with its working remote. The 745 has rear jacks for an iPod dock that was sold for this and several other units, but the separate iPod dock is not included. If you are still using an iPod you can run the audio through the input but if you want the title display you can find one used on line.. The unit is in great shape and the case shows minor edge wear, overall clean and well treated. Presents nicely. This unit was in use until recently and it was well cared for.
This is a great example of the early 2000's compact stereo systems pioneered by Bose and Henry Koss' Cambridge Audio systems. It is great for apartments, dorms, bedrooms or any place you need moderate powered room-filling sound, and it could be your main audio system if you have space efficient needs. It works just fine and looks fantastic. Time to move on to a new home. Asking $125 or best reasonable offer. That means I will accept offers. Ask other people who have bought stuff from me.
