Vintage 1950's Shure 510C Controlled Reluctance dynamic microphone Hi Z harp mic with cable PROP

 You are looking at a very unique Shure Brothers 510C model "Hercules" controlled reluctance microphone which comes with an original short cable in which to operate. 

 That being said this mic no longer has the original element inside and should be used for display, prop or repair purposes only.

  Pic # 2 is from an old Shure catalog showing this very model mic and it's basic characteristics. The 510C / 510S was a general purpose microphone that was usually used for dispatch purposes and was an affordable, rugged mic with an all metal, painted housing. These microphones either came with Controlled Reluctance or Controlled Magnetic elements that hold up very well with time and happen to make excellent harp mic elements today with a muddy, dirty High Z tone. Again, mic is missing element.

 The 510C could placed directly on a flat surface or if you had the adapter you could place it on any desk or floor stand you have. This example does not comes with the original harder to find adapter.

 This 510C is a very good example showing typical lite wear on the stock green painted finish. Just a few small scratches and a couple spots of paint loss. Almost no discoloration. No dents or fractures and looks very nice overall. The Shure logo looks great too as does the inner red colored cloth screen. No odors or rips. I'd rate it a true 7 on a scale of 1 - 10.   It's certainly worthy of repairing with a new dynamic element.

  This microphone has a short 8 inch cable that's still soft and pliable. It has a standard female 1/4 inch end connector.

 The dimensions of the mic with adapter is appx 4 1/2 inches tall X 2 1/2 inches wide X 1 1/2 inches deep.

  A very nice display piece that will draw attention anywhere it sits in the home, studio or office.
