About This Listing

Up for sale, a 1997 Rickenbacker 360/12V64 in 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original silver tolex hardshell case. Rickenbacker's first reissue of the "OS" Old-Style 360 body shape, just like the guitar given to George Harrison in 1964 by Rickenbacker president Francis C. Hall, with correct vintage spec appointments. The 360/12V64 features a double bound body, hot toaster top single coil pickups, a lucite truss rod cover and vintage-style plastics.

The V64's semi-hollow maple construction and X bracing delivers a smooth, authoritative natural acoustic tone that translates through the pickups, with all the shimmer and brightness inherent to maple as a tonewood. Wound hotter than later toaster reissues, these pickups deliver plenty of sparkle, articulation and 12 string chime, with that quintessential Ric jangle. The guitar weighs 7lbs 6oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with fresh strings, easy-playing action, and accurate intonation.

The maple/walnut neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with plenty of shoulder, measuring .880” deep at the 1st fret and .905” at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard has white binding, red side dots, and triangular pearl inlays that extend all the way to the fretboard edges. The fretboard also has a 10" radius, flatter than Rickenbacker's later C63 reissues, and the slender fretwire exhibits light wear beneath the plain strings on the crowns of frets 1-10. This guitar plays cleanly up the 24 3/4“ scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rods, and the nut measures 1.650“ in width. The headstock features a vintage-style lucite truss rod cover, and the Ric Deluxe Kluson-style tuning machines turn smoothly and hold pitch as they should.

All of the electronics work as intended, with Rickenbacker's traditional five knob layout and dual outputs. Solder joints are untouched, and the CTS pots date to the 34th week of ‘97. An additional serialized sticker inside the body is dated 10-14-97, and the serialized jack plate dates to October, 1997. Plastics comprise the quintet of knobs and the clean two-tier white pickguard.

Cosmetic wear on the gloss Fireglo finish includes a number of minor finish chips and dings on the body as a whole, most prominent along the body binding, as well as some buckle worming across the back and rack rash at the neck heel. The neck profile retains its smooth gloss, with a few shallow marks along the profile length that don't distract the palm while fretting.

The original silver tolex hardshell case with blue plush interior is included. Two of the original latches are functional and the original handle is also intact.
