This guitar is available for sale here today on Reverb. Whether you’re an accomplished performing guitarist, studio musician, …or a beginning guitar player, this would be a great instrument to own.
This beautiful Ovation Viper Electric Guitar was designed and built in July of 1977, based on the serial identification number (E18130). It was purchased by a member of my family in 1978, and has only had one owner over the past fifty-years. One thing unique about the Ovation Viper is that, it’s a really heavy instrument (because of its hard maple wood design), with an average body weight of 8-10 pounds, sometimes causing stress on the shoulder and hip, during performances…
Due to the weight of this instrument and the solid maple body, it has been uniquely modified to the shape and radius of the Ovation Viper Pickguard (as you’ll notice in the photo’s). The new weight of this guitar is six pounds, and has an incredible feel, against the hip, side, and shoulder. I took this guitar on tour for one year (back in the nineties), it played really nicely, and felt great! For the past twenty years this beautiful instrument has been nicely packed away in a safe storage. It will sell as a used instrument in excellent condition, with a picture sequence of fifteen photo’s.
David Maupin is a uniquely talented master craftsman (luthier) who designs, builds, and repairs guitar’s. He has been creating beautiful instruments for twelve plus years, like i.e., acoustic, bass, electric, and classical guitars. I’ll be selling the remaining inventory here on Reverb.com…
The Top, Neck, and Body where all made with a really nice cut of select hard Maple wood, based on the design specification (from the Ovation Company). All hardware and electronics i.e., Tuners, 2 Single Coil Pickups, adjustable Bridge, 6 Individual Saddle’s to adjust intonation, and three-position selector switch with volume and tone controls, all original Ovation. Pot codes date 1977. Remember, the neck construction is bolted and glued, with 24 frets, and 25.5” fingerboard scale.
Over the past fifty years of ownership with this instrument, it’s only been played maybe five years, and is really in incredible shape. There are no cracks, no rust, no heavy blemishes, and no wearing down on the fingerboard, and/or the fret wires. There are a few small blemishes. It’s really pretty!!!
This instrument will ship in a Reverb.com shipping box, with Reverb’s shipping label.
