...They look really cool as antique art to hang on your STUDIO wall.
Most recorders fit 10 1/2" reels so...not many 14" Reels fit. These were popular with audio recording machines that recorded at slow speeds like archival police radio that needed to save the audio in 24 hour chunks.
I wonder how they'd look like spray painted red, green, & blue,
or red, white, & blue
or florescent orange, purple, & yellow, or....
You can remove the white labels with rubbing alcohol to make them look better.
