This is a 1976 Ibanez Destroyer. It is not a 1975 but darn close. The body wood is beautiful and wavy and wide like the sought after 1975s. Once you play it you can see why EVH loved his Destroyer. As most EVH fans know, Eddie cut the classic masterpiece first album using an 1975 Ibanez Destroyer. These guitars have taken off in price since Eddie died and it is understandable because they are so good but you have to get the 1975 or the 1976. This is not a 1977 where Ibanez started to change things including making the neck thinner and narrower and the wood was different with a tighter grain. 1977's aren't the same and I have had both. So if you want to get an amazing guitar with historical significance, here it is. That sound is here. This guitar roars. Please note the following. There are no breaks or wood repairs. The neck is perfect with some mild flame. The finish is original with a few marks and nicks but nothing major. Note there are some non original parts. I think the stop bar is non original but I am not sure. I think the Schaller tuners are original. The wiring, pots, knobs, pick guard are original. The pups, are original Ibanez Super 70s (I have taken the neck out as per EVH but it is available). Why there is a gold cover on the bridge pup I don't know but it was that way when I got it. Also note there was a Bigsby possibly at some point but it is gone now save for the drill holes.

The serial number shows for the Fujigen factory in Japan. Just an edit here, a few folks have told me that the letter at the start of the serial number has nothing to do with where the guitar was made but in fact the month of manufacture. Others have said that the letter and serial number following proves it to be a "Fujigen" factory product in Japan. There does seem to be a consensus that these Ibanez Destroyers were built in Fujigen. Also there is consensus that the following 2 numbers after the letter denote the year of the manufacture.
