1966 Rickenbacker Rose Morris Model 1998 - FireGlo
Only 25 model 1998s were shipped to Rose Morris in Melbourne Australia in April 1966, all bearing "FD" serial numbers.
I'm offering for sale one of those 25 guitars as confirmed in Martin Kelly's Rickenbacker book.
Serial number dates this guitar as April 1966 and was shipped to Melbourne in May 1966.
This example is in very good condition with light play over the past 57 years.
It was set up last week for perfect playability by Sydney Luthier Piers Crocker, who is an huge Rickenbacker enthusiast.
The action is currently set perfectly and the guitar plays beautifully, however it does have a shallow neck angle with minimal adjustment left under the bridge.
Used extensively by the John Lennon of The Beatles and Creedence Clearwater Revival, this a rare vintage guitar.
According to Richard Smith's fine book (The History of Rickenbacker Guitars, pp. 220-221) there were a total of just 276 1998 model guitars shipped sold through Rose Morris from 1964-1967.
1964 (126); 1965 (50); 1966 (50) & 1967 (50).
The guitar comes with its' original blue plush lined, silver Tolex Rickenbacker case.
Please note: The original accent vibrato tremolo has been replaced at some point in the guitars life with a Rickenbacker R Logo tail piece along with the bridge which is a modern replacement.
The guitar will packed securely prior to shipping by Pack 'N' Send Sydney and will be air couriered to your place of residence.
Commercial invoice and packing details will be provided for speedy, easy customs clearance.
