About This Listing

The McPherson MG 4.5 is an absolute powerhouse of sound, fully complimented by the pairing of Port Orford Cedar with Koa back and sides. The warm overtones of the Cedar are perfectly balanced by the responsive clarity leading to a reactive and brilliant sound.

The subtle design elements of McPherson Guitars are fully on display with the MG 4.5. Equipped with McPherson’s signature offset soundhole and cantilevered fingerboard, the soundboard is allowed to resonate freely without the impedance of the neck directly touching the top wood. Additionally, the MG 4.5 boasts an incredibly well-balanced tonal spectrum; low frequencies are deep and resonant, high frequencies are responsive, clear, and bright, and mid-range frequencies are subtle and unobtrusive.

Product Overview
Matt McPherson built several unique high-quality flat top acoustic guitars prototypes in the early 1980s, and over time these designs were refined and released under the incorporated McPherson moniker officially in 2001, though specimens built prior to that are still on the market.

The McPherson JL-40 DR featured a unique three-soundhole design at the edges of a Spruce top. It had Rosewood back and sides with a Rosewood fingerboard on a Mahogany neck. It included a single humbucker in the neck position with volume and tone controls on the side of the guitar.
