Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at a rare and unique 1980's / 90's era Astatic CTM7 model condenser cardioid microphone that comes with it's original flat black finish, mic clip and black vinyl mic pouch.

This is the first example of an Astatic CTM7 that I have ever offered and it's quite beautiful.   This CTM77 is an all metal design with a stock flat black paint scheme to reduce light glare. I have to admit that it's quite aggressive looking. More so than the typical stick mic giving this CTM77 a lot of character.

This was a high quality studio mic that astatic offered back in the day with excellent sound quality set at low impedance. I don't have a manual or catalog on this mic but it has some decent bass. The sound is very smooth and the signal is very strong. Works excellent with zero issues and has excellent uni-directional characteristics. You just need phantom power to operate this mic. It takes a standard XLR cable as well. No cable is provided.

Astatic made a variety of stick mics during the 1960's through the 1980's but seemed to have given up on those at some point. Several I have heard are very good quality but they seemed to just have been drowned out by the competition such as Shure & electro Voice. Again, this was an excellent model and will do any musician or broadcaster justice.

The CTM77 is certainly a very well made quality mic. It's light weight, easy to hold for prolonged periods of time and it's 6 3/4 inches long X 1 3/4 inches wide at the grill. The on / off switch works perfectly and as you can see there is hardly any wear on this mic. No dents, tarnish or scratches. I'd rate it a conservative 9 + on a scale of 1 - 10. Any blemishes on the mic are from dust particles or smudges as the detailed pics show more than you would see in person.

The mic has had it's XLR pins cleaned ensuring a perfect signal once a cable is attached though no cable is provided. The Astatic label is perfect and this in an American made microphone.

The front grill is perfect. No odors and the inner pop filter screen is perfect as well.

The mic comes with a mic clip that fits the mic perfectly providing a wide degree of tilt up and down. The tension is adjustable via side screw and this clip will screw onto any stand you have.

The original black vinyl pouch is included and a great place to store the microphone when not in use. The zipper works great and the pouch shows just very lite wear.

If you want to try something different that very few musicians or broadcasters have then the CTM77 will get the job done and you'll absolutely love it.
