This Jefferson Barros was already half-finished when we came across a nylon 7-string guitar of his that we liked, bought, and have since sold. The steel-stringed (actually, a mix of steel and nylon strings) guitar was unclaimed at the time, so we claimed it. It has several features we liked in the nylon-stringed version -- elevated fingerboard, sound port, truss rod -- plus good materials, solid construction and an affordable price. Here's your invitation to try a "sete de aço".
Top: German spruce
Back & sides: African rosewood
Neck: Cedro Rosa (Cedar))
Fingerboard: Indian rosewood
Bridge: Brazilian rosewood
Nut: Bone
Saddle: Bone
Scale length: 646mm
Nut width: 62mm
Body depth: 110mm
Widest body width: 378mm
Finish: PU
Tuners: Rozini luxo
Pickup: No
Case: Gig bag
Strings: Dinâmico São Paulo 7 cordas
Additional: Truss rod, sound port, elevated fingerboard.
Condition: New
Note: If you are not familiar with this type of guitar -- a Brazilian "7 cordas de aço" -- it bears little resemblance to a typical N. American jazz, flat-top or classical guitar. It has a mix of 5 flat-wound steel strings and 2 (the highest) of nylon. These guitars are used primarily to fulfill a specific role (that of playing bass lines, punctuated by chords) within an ensemble playing samba and/or choro.
