Mário Machado has been building guitars, bandolins and cavaquinhos in Nova Lima, MG, Brazil, for several decades. Our first hands-on exposure to his work was through Pedro Cantalice, who taught cavaquinho at Choro Camp New England in 2023. He was very pleased with a Machado cavaco he had won as a prize in a competition. We liked it too and so leapt at the chance to acquire this excellent and interesting 7-string guitar when it arose.
