Up for sale, a 2011 Fender Jazzmaster Hollowbody (JM/HO) in excellent condition and in perfect working order, upgraded with Fender American Vintage pickups. This extremely rare and discontinued model was produced only for the Japanese domestic market and never exported to the USA.
The semi-hollow ash body construction pushes this guitar into uncharted Jazzmaster tonal territory, combining the inherent warmth of the body design with the midrange punch and note detail of ash. The upgraded Fender American Vintage AV65 pickups are glassy and articulate in their response. Faithfully wound to vintage spec with gray fiber bobbins and alnico magnets, these pickups deliver plenty of sinewy snap and sparkle in the bridge position, with an inherently warmer, fuller neck pickup sound that retains ample definition and cut. Engaging the Rhythm Circuit on the lower body horn unlocks a fatter set of tonalities for the neck pickup, perfect for thickening up your favorite fuzz or small tube amp. The guitar weighs 7lbs 15oz, setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar where we specialize in Fender Offset instruments, with fresh 11-49 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
The maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with good shoulders in every register and faintly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .830" deep at the 1st fret and .885" at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard features pearl dot inlay and a vintage spec 7 1/4" fretboard radius with slender fretwire. The frets have their full factory height, with notable grooves beneath the plain strings on frets 2-7. Wear grows progressively lighter beneath the plains until fret 15, and the guitar plays cleanly in every register up the 25 1/2" scale. The neck is straight, and the truss rod is responsive and optimally adjusted. The original bone nut measures 42mm in width (1.650"). The headstock sports a Pre-CBS style "Spaghetti" Jazzmaster logo, with Kluson-style Gotoh tuning machines which turn smoothly and hold pitch well.
All of the electronics work as they should, with the upgraded pair of Fender American Vintage pickups complete with parchment covers and wired to upgraded USA-made CTS pots in the Lead Circuit. The vibrato unit features flawless chrome plating, working in concert with the original bridge. The ash body is framed by ivory top and back binding, and plastics include a pair of upgraded witch hat knobs and the original multi-ply pickguard which shows some requisite pick scuffing. Cosmetic wear on the gloss Natural finish includes a couple scuffs at the bass-side waist on the back, a few shallow dings on top between the bridge and tailpiece, and some finish scuffing in this area as well (likely from behind-the-bridge picking). Beyond that, the guitar is extremely well-kept, and the gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless, highlighting curly flame figuring on the length of the profile.
***We are dealers for the Mastery M2 bridge and Offset Vibrato, either of which can be installed prior to shipment for an additional charge***
