Up for sale, a 2002 PRS Singlecut “10 Top” in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case, hangtags, and factory documentation. This PRS is the model responsible for the 2004 Gibson/PRS lawsuit, wherein Gibson attempted to sue PRS for the Singlecut’s similarities to the iconic Les Paul. And while Gibson was initially successful, the ruling was overturned on appeal. This particular pre-lawsuit iteration of the Singlecut features a bookmatched "10 Top" with straight tiger flame finished in Vintage Sunburst, a mahogany body, a mahogany neck with a Wide-Fat neck profile and an East Indian rosewood fretboard, and a pair of PRS #7 humbuckers.

This guitar delivers ample natural sustain, woody warmth, and singing treble chime, qualities faithfully captured by the stock pair of #7 humbuckers. These pickups have the tonal profile of a PAF-style humbucker, with spongy lows, great warmth, singing highs, and a clear midrange. The bridge pickup is wound slightly hotter (metering at 8.5k ohms) for an extra hit of oomph and growl. This PRS weighs 9lbs 2oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The mahogany neck has PRS’ Wide-Fat profile, a full-feeling '50s-style C-shaped carve with well-rounded shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .890” deep at the 1st fret and .980” at the 12th. The East Indian rosewood fretboard sports the pre-2008 original solid “Birds in Flight” abalone inlay, and the medium jumbo fretwire has plenty of meat and well-rounding crowns, only exhibiting light wear beneath the plain strings on the crowns of frets 1-9. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25” scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the nut measures 1 11/16” in width. The headstock features Kluson-style tuners with greened keystone buttons, and the handwritten serial is present on the back of the headstock, along with the “10” denoting the 10 Top premium flame maple cap.

All of the electronics function as intended, with the pickups governed by a three-way selector switch and independent pairs of Volume and Tone controls. Plastics include the amber speed knobs, cream pickup rings and switch tip, and the nickel-plated hardware is quite clean, including the pickup covers and the compensated wraparound tailpiece.

The gloss Vintage Burst finish highlights the dimensional straight tiger maple figuring which extends liberally across the bookmatched 10 Top, and cosmetic wear is limited to just a scant few pinhead-sized dings on the body as a whole and very light buckle rash on the bass side of the back. The smooth gloss on the neck profile is immaculate.

The original hardshell case is included, along with the hangtags and factory documentation.
