About This Listing

Here is your chance to get that great vintage Gretsch sound for less than the cost of a new guitar. This is a 1964 Gretsch Double Anniversary in the smoke green color. It sounds fantastic and does the rockabilly sound very well. Everything appears to be original, including the tuners and pickups. Also comes with a hardshell case that does not appear to be original, but is definitely of the time period.

Like most Gretsch guitars of this era, there are some issues. There is some binding deterioration, mostly above the 12th fret along the neck, which does not impact playing much. It has also had a neck reset at some point, but the angle and action are really good now. There are also various chips, surface cracks, and play wear, none of which are major or effect the structure of the guitar. On the back there is an impression in the finish that says “1964” along with some other text I can’t read. Not sure where this is from, but I’ve tried to document all of these things in the photos. None of this impacts playability of the guitar at all.

All-in-all, this is a really solid vintage guitar that sounds terrific. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Product Overview
The '60s iteration of the Anniversary model featured Gretsch's single coil Hi-Lo'Tron pickups instead of the original Filter'Tron humbuckers. It was also produced with an optional stereo output from 1961 - 1962, though examples are vanishingly rare. The Double Anniversary ran unchanged until the early '70s, when Gretsch would reorganize their model numbering system.
