Howdy folks up for sale and your consideration is my S. S. Stewart Special Thoroughbred Model 5 String Banjo (1896, made in Philadelphia, PA, natural varnish finish, spunover rim birds eye maple Rim, Cherrywood neck with ebony fingerboard, made around 1896 when the Philadelphia company was, by their own account at least, the world's greatest banjo maker. it sounds wonderful and plays amazing original frets are full of life. This Thoroughbred is In All original parts right Down to the ebony nut and 5thing string pip. Tuners, tailpiece and bridge are original, every nut and bolt are as well. I have a new head goat skin head 10.5 inch head on it the original one is in to rough of a shape to use but will be included if desired. It will come in a new locking hard shell case for safe shipping Featured in the photos Above. It’s been well loved and cared for there's Extremely minor player wear other then that with a small nicks its in excellent condition. The neck is very straight for nearly 130 years old. this banjo is in over all excellent condition only used GUT or nylon string. Steel string just were just for the photos old ones are being replaced very soon.
