Daion

Savage Veteran

SUPER RARE

made by YAMAKI

1982

Japan

This one is stock original with untouched electronics, 250k Noble pots and 2 original Daion power-pulse single coil pickups.

The neck has a rosewood fingerboard with black binding, 22 frets with pearloid dot position markers. The headstock is topped with a black plastic veneer.

It has some playwear most evident on the pickguard. There is some finish checkings and some nicks and dings but other than cosmetics, it’s in really good shape. Plays and feels great! The pickups sound very clear and has a lot of punch to them.

The frets are in good condition.

Weighs in at 3.52kg.

Comes with the original hardcase.

SAVAGE SERIES Guitars

The SAVAGE Series has a rather unique body shape featuring an asymmetrical negative cutaway on the bottom. The SAVAGE Series guitars and basses were the only original design instruments from Daion with bolt-on necks and pickguard mounted pickups (as the control cavity was routed from the top like a Fender). Strings were with one exception, namely ours, routed through the solid body telecaster style like other Daion electrics. The Veteran model is the only guitar in the official lineup with a Stratocaster style tremolo. There is one known Savage version with a standard Strat 3-pu configuration but this doesn't seem to be part of an official production run. Color options were solid White, Black, Red, Blue and Yellow.

SAVAGE Veteran

In the 82-84 Daion catalogs one can find up to four different takes on the Savage guitar design, the 1 hb pu equipped BERSERKER, the standard 2 hb pu SAVAGE, the 3 hb BARBARIAN and the 2 single coil model VETERAN. Our guitar is together with the Berserker model the rarer of the four and of this version of the Savage with its two Daion power-pulse single coils and the very traditional strat-style vibrato with chrome saddles only a handful is know to have been produced. Access to tremolo spring adjustment is through a cavity on the back of the guitar as per usual. This was the only Daion with a tremolo until late 1983 and ’84 when the Mark XXV and Mark XXX models were produced.
