I have a very special and exquisitely crafted guitar here for you. This is a Carvin Neil Zaza NZ624. It's really a guitar that you will ohh and aww about when you open the case and look at it. It has a AAAA quilted maple top that is just stunning. Matched with a headstock Quilted maple cap as well.
To Zaza's specifications is is refreshingly devoid of bells and whistles. It's all about exacting build quality, choice woods, and in my opinion an ergonomically perfect guitar. It is indeed pretty much a CT6. Where it differs is the highest ( most expensive) wood selections are stock inclusions. And it has a simplified schematic of having just a single volume knob with no tone and no coil taps. Some purists believe this is best purest tone you will get.
Additionally some specs of it are as follows.
Birdseye maple fretboard , Flat radius (14), Seymour duncan Custom Custom Sh-11 in the bridge, and Seymour Duncan 59 in neck. Holdsworth headstock , Sperzel locking tuners which are the best in the industry and no longer a stock option with Kiesel, tung oiled back of the neck. Select lightweight mahogany one piece body , body back is gloss black. And of course the most killer maple top you will ever see.
The guitar weighs 7.1 lbs on my scale. I have other Kiesel/Carvin CT6's that are over 8. So this one has a very fast, buoyant sound to it. Tonally the guitar is incredible. It has a very very complex, blended three dimensional midrange with lots of cut, or "bite". Tremendous resonance and sustain. It is a tone that you will bond with and delve deep into it. It's a deep tone. It is either a 2014 or a 2015 build. Hard to tell with Carvin serial numbers. This was made right before the Kiesel name change.
The Duncan Custom Custom is a great choice. It's basically a PAF winding pattern, based on a classic vintage sound. But wound and with a magnet strength designed to give it as much power as possible right up to the point of still sounding classic and PAF'ish. If it were wound any hotter it would become a modern pickup. So it's everything you like about classic 50s , 60's style humbuckers but more of it. More sustain, more ability to drive the amp into distortion. And also it is smooth in the treble without sounding thin, In some ways i believe it's an improvement over a PAF because some true spec PAF's lack muscle and sound thin. This is not a thin sounding guitar.
The setup is outstanding. It plays so easily and has a fairly low action to. Part of this is because of Carvin's outstanding proprietary bridge, perfect fretwork and factory setup. Their guitars STAY well setup. The tung oil neck back also is a joy to play.
It's in beautiful condition. Only the faintest signs of any playwear or body contact wear will be found under scrutiny. The pictures do it justice.
It comes with it Carvin G&G hardshell case.
My final impression on this guitar is if you are considering this you are already fortunate because you know about a great brand that makes great guitars. I sell all the other big name USA madebrands. And i will tell you this Kiesel/ Carvin is not living off of a trade mark monopoly and historic heritage nostalgia marketing like another huge names that comes to mind. They are truly innovative and make mind blowing good guitars. The direct comparison head to head makes some of these other brands look shameful. I own several Kiesel/Carvin's and they blow anything out of the water on a price to price basis. They are my favorite guitar builder bar none.
That's the story on this one. I will pack this guitar in rectangular box with sufficient filler, with the strings slightly detuned. And of course fully insured.
