Here is a great guitar with tons of mojo, great sound (especially through a tube amp), and plays extraordinarily well.

The “New York” Tone Spectrum pickup is all original and has not been rewound.  I had another one (on another Zephyr) rewound by an expert, and this original one still sounds better.  These sound fantastic through a clean tube amp.  See the attached Jay Leonard J video, and listen to the first minute and a half, where he’s on the neck pickup. 

This Zephyr has recently refretted. The frets are like new and are a perfect match with the deep V neck, one of the best I’ve played.  If you look at the pic of the back of the neck, you can see that it has a 3 piece laminate construction, which creates an extremely strong long lasting stability.  This type of construction has long since been abandoned in most guitars due to extra labor costs.    

The original Epi tuners on all the guitars of this era are, IMO really top notch, maybe equivalent to the current Waverly tuners.

Also comes with the almost impossible to find original white Octagonal pointer knobs.  It does not come with the original pickguard, which the seller I bought it from described as having deteriorated. 

Notice that on the rear left side, (on the upper bout), at the inside apex of the contour the binding has pulled slightly away from the body.  My luthier offered to fix this, but we both agreed that it was not obtrusive enough to bother with, especially being on the rear side.  But this is not a difficult fix.  The repair would involve cutting out a small segment and regluing the ends together. 

This guitar is sixty-nine years old.  It has some defects in the finish, especially on the top shoulders.  These are, in my perception, not that noticeable, but take this into account.
