This small tube amplifier was made by VALCO in 1956. An excellent low-wattage amplifier for recording and playing at living-room volume. The amp has a thick vintage sound with sweet breakup. The VALCO date code dates the amplifier to 1956 which puts the manufacturing date right in the golden era of guitar amplifiers.
The circuit is identical to the Fender 5C1 Champ. The amplifier has a speaker jack and can be played through any 3-8 Ohm speaker.
Original power transformer (US voltage), original output transformer and great sounding original American-made vintage tubes (Philips JAN/ GE / RCA) down to the original oval Alnico speaker made by Rola. One of the best sounding small amplifiers I have owned.
The amplifier has been carefully serviced with great attention to keep it original yet functioning. To keep the amp playable the amp has received a new can-filter capacitor (CE-Distribution) and a grounded cord - well a period-correct BROWN grounded cord to be exact.
