1991 Ibanez EX 120 with custom finish and work done to the body and neck.

All of the screw holes for the pickup rings and rear tremolo cavity cover have been filled in and sanded down. The body had a few nick and dings, these were filled and sanded also. The body was then coated with primer and sprayed with a metallic copper car wheel paint. I think it turned out very cool.

The pickup rings were eliminated and the pickups are direct mounted like a late model Charvel.

I installed a set of Dimarzio pickups. The bridge pickup is a vintage Tone Zone 4 wire splittable pickup that is very hot (16.63k ohms). The neck is a vintage PAF which is also 4 wire and splittable. The neck pickup has vintage specs at 6.5k ohms resistance. It has a soft creamy tone. This pair of pickups will cover anything from Metal to Jazz. The remaining electronics are MIJ pots and 3 way switch.

The neck has some nice work done to it. I have just rolled the edges of the fretboard, filed and crowned the frets, and polished the fingerboard with lemon oil. The gloss clear coat was rubbed with 0000 steel wool to make it smooth and more playable.  There are a few dings on the back of the neck. See pics.

The strings are brand new D’Addario XL .09-.42.

Some may ask why I put so much work into a fairly inexpensive guitar. I bought an Ibanez RX 170 years ago and it was a jewel. Stock everything, HSH layout, and it smoked almost every other guitar I’ve owned since then. I don’t know why, but I love the EX and RX and have sought them out ever since. Check out my inventory, I always seem to have several of these for sale. What makes these guitars so inviting and easy to play are the necks. They are very Fender-ish, but a little narrower with a deep round C shape. The difference between the EX and the RX is typically the fretboard. Almost all RX’s come with a one piece maple neck. The EX’s have both.

The guitar has no tremolo arm.

It will be professionally packaged and shipped with insurance.

The guitar will need to be tuned and possibly setup to your playing preferences upon receiving.
