Up for sale, a 1986 Fernandes JS-110 in exceptional condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original form-fit faux leather gigbag. Made in Japan as part of Fernandes’ Limited Edition series, this asymmetrical V clearly takes its cues from Jackson’s Rhoads model, ready to shred with a pair of high output humbuckers, a Head Crasher tremolo, and a custom color Pink finish.

Tonewoods include a maple body and a maple neck capped with a bound rosewood fretboard, and this guitar has a lively, resonant acoustic response, providing an ideal platform for the stock pair of VH-2 humbuckers. These pickups are big and bold, with plenty of aggression; the bridge meters at a whopping 15.8k ohms, with snappy lows and gain-ready snarl, and the neck pickup meters at 15.4k ohms, with a fuller, rounder sound that is tight and dynamically responsive. This JS-110 weighs 8lbs 3oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, slinky action, and accurate intonation.

The maple neck has a slender D-shaped profile carve with well-rounded shoulders in every register, measuring .815” deep at the 1st fret and .960” at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard features a 12” radius and sharkfin inlay, and the slender fretwire is practically perfect. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the locking nut measures 1 11/16” in width. The headstock features the Fernandes Limited Edition logo, and the black Gotoh tuning machines turn smoothly.

The pickups are governed by a three-way selector switch, independent Volume knobs, and a Master Tone control, and the original full-size Japanese pots date to May, 1986. The hardware complement is all notably clean, including the dome-topped knurled knobs and anodized aluminum hybrid pickguard/control plate. The Head Crasher tremolo, while correct for this model, is an aftermarket substitution with bright chrome plating, actuating smoothly and snapping quickly back to pitch from deep dives.

The custom color Pink gloss finish is a pale hue (similar to Fender’s Shell Pink), exhibiting some faint mottling along the edges, with cosmetic wear limited to a touched-up chip at the treble-side body point and just a handful of faint scratches on the body as a whole. The smooth matching gloss on the neck profile is pristine.

The original Fernandes-branded form-fit faux leather gigbag is included, along with a Fernandes-branded “Ages” strap.
