Up for sale, a 2018 Echopark Arroyo Case Study Brazilian Rosewood in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and CoA. Echopark guitars, founded in Los Angeles and now based out of Detroit, is the brainchild of master craftsman/luthier Gabriel Currie, who builds every instrument himself with premium tonewoods, proprietary, custom-wound electronics, and exceptional attention to detail.

This “Case Study” iteration of the Arroyo platform features an impressive old growth tonewood complement comprising a Brazilian rosewood top, a one-piece mahogany body, and a korina neck capped with a zircote fretboard. The natural acoustic response is rich and resonant, highly detailed with a complex midrange character faithfully captured by the original pair of Echopark/Arcane Gold Coil humbuckers. These gold foil pickups, custom wound by Arcane for Echopark, replicate the tonal properties of 1965 Teisco gold foils, with a full, balanced tone. They’re sparkling and dynamic, even with the tone rolled off, offering great percussive clarity and just the right amount of lower-midrange oomph. The bridge pickup is an Arcane ‘58 gold foil, with exposed pole pieces, delivering a touch more heat and bite than the fuller, rounder-sounding neck pickup. The push/push coil tap located at the Tone knob enables single coil functionality of the bridge pickup too. This Arroyo weighs 8lbs 8oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.

The old growth korina neck has a long tenon joint and chunky soft V-shaped carve with lightly rolled fretboard edges, gaining additional heft and shoulder in the upper registers, measuring .895” deep at the 1st fret and 1.040” at the 12th. The old growth zircote fretboard has a 12” radius, and the Jescar 9055 narrow/tall fretwire is flawless, at full factory height with well-rounded crowns. This guitar plays cleanly up the 24 3/4“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the bone nut measures 1 11/16” in width. On the headstock, the Grover Pre-War 18:1 open-gear tuning machines turn smoothly with butterbean buttons.

All of the electronics function as intended, with the pickups governed by a three-way pickup selector switch, Master Volume and Tone knobs, and the push/push bridge pickup coil tap at the Tone knob. The harness features modern custom taper CTS pots. The plastics are very clean, including the one-ply celluloid nitrate tortoise pickguard and the gold reflector cap knobs, and the nickel-plated Pigtail wraparound bridge has individually adjustable saddles for precise intonation.

The nitro lacquer finish is a thin application with a semi-gloss feel, highlighting the grain in the old growth Brazilian rosewood top, framed by herringbone/tortoise purfling. This guitar is exceedingly well-kept, with cosmetic wear limited to just a couple tiny marks on the back. The smooth gloss on the neck profile is immaculate.

The original G&G hardshell case is included, along with the CoA and documentation.
