Vintage NATIONAL Westood 75 Map body electric guitar
What we have here is a 1960's vintage National Westwood 75 electric guitar. The body is the cool Map-shape in the redburst (black to red) finish. As you can see the body has some chambering under the backplate for access to the electronic components. You've got one magnetic pickup in the neck and a "Silver Sound" pickup attached to the bridge. The bridge pickup is not a piezo as is often thought, but a type of magnetic pickup.
This guitar plays well though there are some buzzy frets in the higher register. There is some wear and tear as you can see but it doesn't appear this thing was misused or abused. For its age I'd say it's in pretty good shape. There is not case but we will make sure it is packed well for transit.
Pickups/Electronics: Single-coil pickup in the neck and a transducer pickup located under the bridge base. Controls include dual volume controls, master volume control, master tone control and a 3-way tone switch. The controls are designed in a unique way and work as follows:
Position 1 on the tone switch activates the single coil, master volume, and master tone control. 9.11K Ohms.
Position 2 activates the single coil and transducer pickup, master volume control and individual volume control located in the middle. 4.20K Ohms.
Position 3 activates Both pickups, master volume control, and individual volume control on the right. 6.56K Ohms.
