About This Listing

It has been a bit since a 50s Strat came through.  This one was worth the wait - a 7 pound, 8 ounce beauty from 1959!

This is a beautiful piece that has been played but has killer curb appeal.  The front of the body draws you right in.  The back of the neck has the perfect amount of wear and feels perfect in your hand.

As is the norm for most 1959 Fenders, there is no neck date.  There are theories about why, which may or may not be true, but I've seen it over and over.  The slab fretboard is gorgeous.  The finish on the neck is original and no changes have been made under the original tuners - something we always check for to avoid later surprises.  The frets have been professionally replaced with jumbo frets.  While this may sound horrifying to some, they play so well.

The body shows wear on the back and edges but maintains a cleaner look on the front.  The pickguard is original, an '11 screw", multi-ply 'guard that is correct after mid-1959.  There is a typical crack next to the neck pickup.

The pickups, pots, wiring and jack are all original.  The three-way switch was changed out for a five-way, but the three-way is in the case.  All the plastics and the strap buttons are original as well.  The body is pictured without the backplate, but it and the screws are in the case.

The body date is in the tremolo cavity behind the original trem claw (the bridge is original as well - the date is 10/59.  Pot codes are from the 20th week of 1959.

The case is original as well - a brown tolex case that Fender moved to from the tweed 50s case during 1959.

A beauty you can play, collect, or hopefully - both!
