About This Listing

Give the right instruments to a genius and you will get unmatched results. A simple sentence to describe what Tom Murphy and the Gibson Custom Shop have been able to create with the new Murphy Lab project.

The new Gibson management decided to involve again Mr. Tom Murphy in the Gibson Custom Shop to create a new generation of aging process, even more accurate and realistic than before: a strong break with the previous techniques and an incredible step forward in terms of quality and results!

The Murphy Lab perfectly recreate with natural, non hand-made, procedures the same aging conditions we can find on original vintage instruments. Thin finishes, featuring a rich crackle effect, with an extremely authentic vibe.

It really feels like having an original vintage instrument in your hands, but with all the quality and the performance that only the Gibson Custom Shop can deliver.

In particular this instruments reissue the iconic 1959 Les Paul Standard, the first Les Paul to feature a figured maple top and was ordered through the Made 2 Measure program.

An instrument which features a non-standard finish and an top-grade handpicked maple top.

Its classic solid mahogany/maple construction and versatile humbucking pickups represent everything one could possibly need in a Les Paul model.

This authentic recreation exemplifies Gibson Custom Shop's tireless quest for accuracy to the original year of production, from the woods to the construction to the parts and precise contours throughout.

Each Custom Shop Reissue is every bit the instrument and statement piece as the priceless vintage examples, providing an ownership experience that is endlessly fun.
