About This Listing

CP Thornton Classic II Hot Rod Series, 2022, Matador Red / Pure White , a couple small nicks but didn't chip the paint, I tried to show them in the photos. This guitar is amazing and I am bummed I have to sell it. Sits in it's original case in a humidity-controlled environment.

With over 36 years of building experience, luthier Chuck Thornton truly knows how to craft an exceptionally fine guitar. His Classic II is based on the traditional Fullerton single cut recipe but with many improvements including hand selected tone-woods; for a balanced and light weight instrument that rings like a bell.

This particular Classic II weighs in at only 6lbs 8oz. It features body contours and a radiused neck pocket, as well as intonated brass saddles and staggered tuning posts for the utmost stability.

The pickups are MOJO UK's Dual Foils. A splitable humbucking Gold-Foil with asymmetric windings. This is done so that the pickups always retain their Gold-Foil warmth and chime even when in full hum-bucking mode. Humbucker mode gives the player considerably more heft & mid-range than single coil mode w/ the benefit of hum cancellation. You'll also notice that there is very little, if any volume drop when splitting the coils due to the asymmetric windings. The outer coil is always more dominant than the inner coil.

In this guitar the Dual Foils sound airy and rich like a traditional Gold-Foil with a nice clear top-end and a slightly scooped mid-range when split (more Tele like) Humbucking mode is great for pushing your amp into overdrive with more heft & low-mids to each note than single-coil mode. Single-Coil mode has a more pronounced treble response as well as a bit more spank and bite.

The reclaimed old-growth Nootka Cedar bodies warmth gives the guitar an almost acoustic-like quality with loads of harmonics that leap off the fretboard; while the stiff torrefied maple neck brings some traditional punchlines and Fullerton-bite into the mix.

If you are in the market for a T-style instrument w/ a twist, built by one of the finest luthiers today then this is your ticket. Setup work is flawless and the guitar is strung with 10-46 gauge strings. Comes w/ HSC and COA (in case)
