1985 1984 Gibson Explorer James Hetfield “More Beer” Metallica
 
This is not a signature model (it does not exist btw), this is my personal tribute. The guitar is an original Gibson made in USA, early 1985 Gibson Explorer that was refinished to vintage white with the 1984 design (pickguard removed and holes were filled, no structural change). There are dings all over the place, although refinished the idea was to keep the same vibe and looks of a 32 years old guitar. It was also added the EMG 81/60, the Jagermeister sticker and the medicine tape hand made sticker exactly like the Hetfield’s ‘More Beer’.
 
“Although almost identical to the “So What” Explorer, this one featured different stickers on it – making it easier to separate the two. The second Explorer had the words 1984 Gibson Explorer “So What” written on it in 1985. Sometime in 1986 James put a tape over the original writing, and wrote the words “More Beer” on it instead. After signing the deal with ESP in 1988, James added a Jagermeister sticker over the original Gibson logo on the headstock, and added another larger Jagermeister sticker just behind the bridge.”

Frets are original, they have some life still, please refer to the pictures for a better judgment. The guitar plays well but feels it needs a new set up (nothing different that you do when you buy an used instrument).
