About This Listing

Love this carbon fiber guitar. If I sell some of my other guitars, I'm going to pull the listing. But at this point, I need to be open to letting stuff go.

This is a 5iM-CE, but in later years (I think after Peavey took over), it was called the GXi, which might be easier to find specs and descriptions for.

Basically, this is their largest and deepest guitar body. They did their best to tune the top and shape to sound like a quality wooden instrument. There are still some differences, but I think only the owner of multiple acoustic guitars could really tell the difference between this and the variations between even wooden guitars.

To me, it sounds like what I think a quality Guild acoustic should sound like: deep, boomy, complex mid-range and solid low-end. Some people who don't like this (and prefer Taylors? dunno) might call it "muddy", but I love the complexity. So consider this the equivalent of a Jumbo, but much easier to hold and play.

Electronics sound great. Easy to avoid feedback.

Comes with a Composite Acoustics gig bag.

The Road Tough finish does show some wear. See pictures. Most obvious is below the e-string where strumming has worn off some of the texture, even though it doesn't show up well in the photo. 2 minor chips that I could find, and are shown in the pictures.

Stainless steel frets, so will last you a lifetime and probably still be good for your great-grandchildren.

From someone else's review of the guitar, although I did make appropriate changes for this one:

Composition:

100% Carbon Fiber, which means this guitar is impervious to temperature, weather, humidity... Stainless Steel Frets, which compared to traditional nickel frets, last much longer... NO TRUSSROD, no adjustments, and PERFECT intonation... the action can be adjusted up and down, via saddle adjustments.

Action is currently pretty low and easy.

Looks:

Wine burst, with CA's Carbon Fiber purfling around the perimeter of the guitar and headstock... gorgeous blank fretboard, with 12th fret dot's and side dots along the side of neck... the entire guitar is covered in CA's Road Tough finish which is scratch resistant, as can also withstand perspiration and the negative effects of friction from strumming, which normally creates pick swirls... after 15 years, it is showing *some* wear...see pictures.

Sound:

These guitars are in a league all their own... the deep bass created by the offset soundhole, (as a result of CA's integrated bracing built into the top of the guitar) is powerful, but not overpowering to the remaining mids and highs... The best way I can describe the sound, is "Piano-like" with sustain like I've never heard on an acoustic guitar before... and, try putting a Capo on the 9 fret while fingerpicking... no dead strings and perfect intonation...

Playability:

Nice, 1 and 3/4" wide nut, with medium sized frets... neck is fast, very smooth fret edges, and the back body contours make this guitar rest perfectly against the torso, with unlimited access to the upper frets with the cutaway...

Electronics:

Fishman Matrix VT Under Saddle Transducer... has the Volume and Tone controls inside the soundhole... hidden from sight, but very easily accessible, as is the 9-volt battery housing...

Not me in the video, but it's a good demonstration of its sound. Search that guy's videos to hear examples of other playing styles. They are all pretty representative of what this guitar sounds like to me (which is why I bought it after hearing his videos).
