About This Listing

This vintage Gibson Hummingbird Custom from the "Norlin" era is super hard to find. This one dates back to 1977 and plays and sounds great! The wine red finish looks incredible. Includes the original case and pictured paperwork!

This guitar shows a few signs of cosmetic wear from over the years. There's light scratching and small dents on the body with some additional scuffs on the back of the neck and headstock. The back of the neck also shows a little bit of discoloration. The pickguard also appears to have some residue underneath and the binding around the neck and body has also aged significantly over time. The bridge is original, but has had a crack repaired and been reglued by trusted luthier, Tom Jacobs of Jacobs Custom Guitars. The frets are used but still play great and this guitar is in nice shape overall for its age.

The bridge pins have been replaced, otherwise this guitar appears to be all original.

Includes the pictured OHSC and case candy.

Product Overview
With a full complement of ornate cosmetic details, the Gibson Hummingbird was Gibson's second most expensive production acoustic when it premiered in 1960. The Hummingbird deviated from older Gibson dreadnoughts designs in its use of  square shoulders instead of the rounded shoulders found on models like the J-45. Largely due to its striking visual flair, the Hummingbird remains one of Gibson's most iconic acoustics.

1960 - present

Body Style: Dreadnought

Wood Composition: Mahogany back and sides, Mahogany neck, Spruce top

Design Elements: Square shoulders, long ornate pickguard, deep set neck, adjustable bridge saddle, double parallelogram inlays
