About This Listing

Gretsch Vintage Select '89 Duo Jet Bigsby w/ TV Jones PUs G6128T 89VS
These are currently listed used for 2.3-3k online (prices trending up). Mine comes with OHSC, upgraded TV Jones bridge (higher output) PU (and original bridge PU), black strap locks, a choice of different black leather straps or black nylon strap and spare Bigsby spring and washer kit. There is a small patch or buckle rash (see photo) in back from previous owner and some VERY mild fret wear under G/B strings on frets 1-4 (see photo, it doesn't look as bad in person, the photo really highlights it). Otherwise the guitar looks and plays like new!

I will box it for shipment in standard guitar box, packing with attention to the appropriate details. Please let me know if you have questions. I'm in no hurry to sell, I just tend to play my full scale Fender guitars more, though I love the sound and playability of this Duo-Jet!

From the internet:
Vintage Select Edition guitars are designed for the player who appreciates the finest in musical instrument heritage. The G6128T-89VS Vintage Select '89 Duo Jet with Bigsby® pays homage to a classic late-'80s design that rocked the forefront of the Pacific Northwest grunge movement that overtook the music world in the early 1990s.

Delivering signature solid-body power and punch, the G6128T-89VS features period-correct chambered mahogany construction, which magnifies harmonic richness by letting air resonate between the top and body for livelier and more articulate tone. TV Jones® TV Classic™ Plus bridge and TV Jones TV Classic neck pickups replicate that unmistakable vintage Filter'Tron™ sound to fabulous sonic effect, and can be intuitively commanded using a versatile control layout featuring master volume with treble bleed circuit, master tone, individual pickup volume controls and three-way pickup toggle switch.

Other features include a set maple neck, 12"-radius rosewood fingerboard with pearloid Hump Block inlays, bone nut, G-arrow knobs, Bigsby® vibrato tailpiece, Adjusto-Matic™ bridge with pinned rosewood base and Gotoh® tuners.

This grunge-era beauty comes in classic Black with silver pickguard, late-'80s black headstock with Gretsch logo and horseshoe inlay and nickel hardware.

Origins
The Duo Jet was first introduced in 1953, after the success of the Gibson Les Paul Goldtop. A key difference between the two was that the Duo Jet was a semi-solid body with routed channels and pockets inside, instead of a solid.

It is believed that the name Duo Jet was inspired by the fact that the guitar has two pickups (Duo) and by the advanced aircraft of the time (Jet). This was the first Gretsch guitar to feature a truss rod accessible through the headstock, a pickup selection switch on the cutaway, and a master volume on the body.

Construction
Made of a chambered mahogany body, one of the most notable differences between the Duo Jet and comparable guitars is its configuration variations. While it shares their dual pickup, single cutaway style with the more popular Gibson Les Paul, the 6128 Duo Jet models take various unique approaches for shaping the tonality of the instrument.

While a master volume is standard on this model, some variations will either have independent neck/bridge pickup volume knobs with a master tone knob, or will have the same independent neck/bridge pickup volume knobs, but with a tone switch next to the pickup selector switch instead of the master tone knob.
