Up for sale, a 2014 Fender Jazzmaster ‘62 vintage reissue model JM66 in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hangtags. This “Made in Japan” Jazzmaster was designed exclusively for the Japanese domestic market, long ago discontinued and uncommon outside its country of origin.

Tonewoods include an alder body, maple neck, and rosewood fingerboard, and at 8lbs 1oz, this Jazzmaster is a lightweight example with a smooth, clear acoustic voice. The instrument has plenty of sparkle and cut on tap, with a range of defined and powerful tones from the two single coil pickups, and warm, wooly sounds when switched to the Rhythm Circuit on the guitar's lower body horn. Professionally setup by the Fender Offset specialists here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Jazzmaster has been dialed in with 11-49 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.

The maple neck has a fairly chunky C-shaped profile carve with well-rounded shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .865” deep at the 1st fret and .935” at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard has a vintage-spec 7 1/4“ radius, and the slender fretwire only exhibits a touch of wear beneath the plain strings on the crowns of frets 1-3. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2” scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the nut measures 1.650” (42mm) in width. The headstock sports a Pre-CBS style "Spaghetti" Jazzmaster logo, with Kluson-style tuning machines which turn smoothly and hold pitch well. The “Made in Japan” text and JD14-prefix serial are present above the four-bolt neck plate.

All of the electronics work as they should, and the chrome hardware is bright and clean. The vibrato unit engages smoothly for quick warbles and surfy dives, working in concert with the original bridge. Plastics comprise the notably dark brown tortoise guard, and the pristine pair of bright white knobs and pickup covers. Remarkably well-kept, cosmetic wear on the gloss Olympic White finish limited to just a couple faint scratches in the clear coat on the body as a whole. The smooth lightly ambered gloss on the neck profile is similarly flawless and highlights subtle figuring in the maple.

A padded gigbag is included, along with the original hangtags.

***We are dealers for the Mastery M2 bridge, OMV-P Offset Vibrato, and Lollar pickups, any or all of which can be installed prior to shipment for an additional charge***
