About This Listing

Up for sale is a vintage black 1983 Fender USA Dan Smith era two knob Stratocaster. The guitar just got a fret level, dress, and polish as well as a full setup, and now it is playing great! Is has all of the classic strat tones with a more simplified layout that uses a single volume and single tone control. The tremolo is a unique design that is routed from the front of the guitar which works smoothly and holds tune pretty well. The guitar is in good condition, but it does have some normal wear and tear for being a 40 year old guitar and it looks like the frets may have been replaced at some point. The guitar comes with a non original hard shell case. Please feel free to ask any questions and I hope that whoever buys this guitar will put it to good use.

Product Overview
At the end of the resurgent Dan Smith era, Fender introduced a new Stratocaster with only two control knobs and a input jack mounted on the top of the body for 1983 and 1984. This guitar is referred to as the "Standard Stratocaster" (not to be confused with the later Made in Mexico Strat of the same name).

Unique to this two-year production run were the Freeflyte surface-mounted vibrato tailpiece (no internal cavity), top mounted input jack and third tone knob delete.

The "Standard Stratocaster" is frequently confused with the "Dan Smith" Stratocaster, which features a traditional Stratocaster tremolo system, and three knob control layout.
