Yamaha Yamaha FG-401w 1978

RARE - Vintage (70s) - Made in Japan - Yamaha FG-401W

This is a mid/late - 1970s vintage Yamaha FG-401W (I believe it's 1978). This guitar was made in Japan for the Japanese market (orange label). There are very few of them available in general and especially outside of Japan.

The guitar sounds and plays very well. The tone is warm and it has good clarity.

I had the guitar set up in 2017 by a professional luthier - this included installing a LR Baggs Element pickup (which has since been removed). To do this, the original adjustable saddle (with screws on either side of the saddle to raise/lower) was replaced with a custom made-to-fit bone saddle, so the saddle height and action were set up professionally at this time.

The bone saddle is still installed. I still have the original adjustable saddle which can be restored if you prefer.
