I am selling this mint-condition Solid State Logic summing system as configured. It consists of:

  • (1) SSL X-Rack Chassis, SSL model no. XRK0830, which holds up to eight X-Rack modules and provides 32 Total Recall memory locations
  • (1) SSL X-Rack Master Module, SSL model no. XR622, which provides a signal path to the two X-Rack stereo buses, as well as controls master level, monitor level, AFL Solo functions, master insert, and the headphone output section.
  • (1) SSL X-Rack 8-Channel Input Module, SSL model no. XR624, which provides 8 line level inputs configured as 4 stereo pairs. Each pair features on/off and mono/stereo switching, routing onto the internal Mix bus, and inputs 1/2 and 3/4 have individual insert send and return points.
  • (6) SSL X-Rack 4-Channel Input Module, SSL model no. XR623, which provides 4 balanced line inputs, each with its own solo, volume, insert, and pan control.

The X-Rack series are no longer manufactured, and I was recently told by Vintage King that they are now highly sought after. I am only selling because I have access to a Duality console. This system was carefully assembled and is in near-mint condition, with very few hours on it.

The beauty of this system is that all but the last (4) inputs have insert capabilities, as all four channels on the 4-channel modules and the first four inputs on the 8-channel module features an insert path. This is great for patching in analog hardware, be it other X-Rack EQ’s, Dynamics, or of course any outboard analog equipment fancied. Like a console, the levels are all sorted out for the insert, and the insert sends, like any SSL, are always active.

Another huge benefit is that the entire system is recallable. Every analog channel volume, pan, etc. is recalled by SSL’s Total Recall system. This is great for summing out of the box while preserving a digital-style workflow. The X Rack chassis stores 32 memory positions so you can utilize many different mix configurations.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t say that the 4-Channel input modules sound like a real SSL. I’ve carefully compared these modules against the Sigma summing solution and the classic SSL character is present on the 4-channel modules. There is (1) 8-channel module in this system that I used for FX returns, and I have to say it sounds a little cleaner.

Lastly, this system is designed to integrate with the SSL X-Desk, which is how I had the system configured (I sold my X-Desk in another auction). The Mix Bus Link feeds the X-rack system right into the mix bus if the X-Desk, for a 48-channel system. Note that the master module isn’t used in this configuration.

Item will be packaged very carefully, as I pride myself on my shipping, and will be shipped via UPS in the US only. As a policy the items are in as-is condition, but have no known issues and are in excellent shape. Thanks and good luck!
