A versatile 68 plexi with original hand assigned tubes by Dave Bray from his shop in Cali. The COCO 50 is a 50-watt handwired head, based off of the famed 1968 Eddie Van Halen’s 12301 Plexi, designed for DLR era VH “Brown” tones. No variac or attention/load box needed. It’s designed to get instant early VH at low to reasonable volumes.
It can also do beautiful plexi cleans and crunch with adjusting the volume I and II and outputs. Both volumes can be blended together just like 4 input Marshall.
Dave worked to keep the desirable articulation of a stock '68 intact, while improving gain for sustain at lower volumes using a (PPIV MV) Post Phase Inverter Master Volume and using the proper midrange for girth, and choosing the correct attack and squish that makes this amplifier so incredibly fun and easier to play through, even at quiet volumes when using the amplifier's fully transparent Output Level control.
This amp performs equally as well with leaner PAF style pickups in addition to higher wind models. The brans new are $2800 plus shipping with a 2-3 month wait from Bray Amps.
Come with foot-switch for dual master volume and gain boost. TRS stereo cable not included.
