About This Listing

Up for sale, a 2020 Fender Traditional II 50s Stratocaster in near-mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original gigbag and hangtags. This “Made in Japan” Strat was produced exclusively for the Japanese domestic market and select international markets, uncommon outside its country of origin.

Tonewoods include a basswood body and one-piece maple neck, and via the trio of alnico magnet single coils, the guitar offers plenty of quintessential Strat tonalities with chiming sparkle, percussive cut and bell-like sweetness on tap via the five-way pickup selector switch, plus hollow quack at the “in-between” positions. Lightweight at 6lbs 13oz, this Strat has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.

The maple neck has a substantial C-shaped carve with generous shoulders, evoking a 1955-56 profile, measuring .875” deep at the 1st fret and .930” at the 12th. The fretboard has a modern 9 1/2“ radius, and the slender fretwire is pristine. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the bone nut measures 1.615” (41mm) in width. On the headstock, the Kluson-style tuning machines function reliably with clean nickel plating and the correct vintage look. The “Made in Japan” text and JD20-prefix serial are present on the back of the headstock.

All of the electronics work as they should, and the alnico magnet single coils pickups are wired to factory installed USA-made full-size CTS with a five-way pickup selector switch. The chrome-plated hardware shines like new, including the vibrato unit which engages very smoothly, and plastic parts are near-mint. There are just a scant few faint scratches in the clear coat of the gloss on the two-tone Sunburst finish, and the gloss on the neck profile is immaculate.

The original Fender-branded gigbag is included, along with the hangtags.
