About This Listing

This is a Concert Granada Model built by Stephen Hill. The guitar features Ziricote back and sides and master grade Alpine Spruce top. The guitar has a 5 fan bracing system with treble bar in the same style to those used by Bouchet/Montero in the Granada school of guitar making - Additionally, the guitar was designed to have a slightly lower body resonance frequency/pitch. The tuners are handmade by Pagos in Italy.

Stephen Hill is also the director of EIGM - the European Institute of Guitar Making where he teaches the art of traditional Spanish guitar making to students every year.

Granada guitars are known to be lightweight with excellent projection and clarity giving the player complete control of shaping the sound. Here's a more detailed description from Guitar Salon for a very similar model sold there:

Typical of the 'Granada' style, this is a lightly built instrument with a big, punchy attack and very lively character of sound. It has lyrical trebles and plump, juicy basses. It's very sensitive to the touch and position of the hands and so has great color, dynamics and expression. The smoothly rounded neck is very comfortable and easy to play for virtually any hand type or size. For this guitar, Stephen chose a fine spruce top, and a set of stunning ziricote for the back and sides. Although he used his normal bracing system of 7 fans and a Bouchet-esque bridge bar, the lower harmonic bar is slit in 2 halfway along its length to give an asymmetric aspect to the thin spruce top. Stephen has implemented this new aspect to achieve more clarity and balance, as well as a great treble response and more open sensitive basses. Overall, a very versatile concert and recording guitar.
