Wants vs. Needs You know, you have those basic needs, right? Cable TV? Check. Lights and food? A must. Insurance? Naturally, everybody wants to sue; liability equals free money. As they say, "Simplify your needs, and you simplify your life.” But here's the conundrum: You can stuff an envelope full of Casious Clay on yet another Nephew's graduation (and isn't it funny to you that you never hear from these people until that card show's up with him or her with that precious face and a violin?) Or, dare I say, spend a little on you?
You don't mind buying stuff for your kids or wife, but you feel guilty as hell about buying things for yourself. It's called "the guilt of spending money on yourself." What did we discuss previously? Wants vs. Needs. I know this is a want, but this would look at home on that 62 P Bass now wouldn't?
So in closing, like my father always would say, "In 100 years, it won't matter." Do something just for you. Why not? About that Nephew? Love is something you feel. Not something you do. He has years to earn money; he won't miss it. So what? Tell 'em to call every now and then and stop the pandering. Do something for you without shame. class, you are dismissed.
