About This Listing

Vintage Univox Super Fuzz. It has been tested and is in good working order. I am the second owner. The first owner used to use this thing to play high school dances back in the 70s. See pictures for cosmetics. This is a vintage item. It looks and functions as a vintage item. It is not new. Please do not expect it to be something that it is not. I have owned this pedal for the past 2 years.

The ultimate fuzz, the Univox Super-Fuzzz!

Fantastic fuzzz variations - brilliant to mellow - short to hanging - plain fuzz to Super-Fuzzz!

Unequaled sustain. Produces the completest range of harmonic tones.

The Super-Fuzz has an on/off footswitch on top and two control knobs - Balance (Volume) and Expander (Fuzz). There are two unique features of this fuzz that set it apart from other distortion and fuzz pedals. The first is that the full-wave rectification of the circuit produces an upper octave as well as a slight lower octave. This also gives the sound a lot of compression and gives a mild ring modulator effect. The second unique feature is a tone switch that engages a 1kHz filter that "scoops" the mids, giving a very fat, almost bassy tone, unique to this circuit.

The Who

guitarist Pete Townshend's fuzz of choice was a Univox

Super-Fuzz, which he utilized for a full decade, from 1968's Rolling

Stones Rock and Roll Circus through a '78 session at Shepperton Studios. You can hear what a Super-Fuzz

sounds like in Townshend's hands by listening To The Who's Live At Leeds.

A few other musicians who have used the Super-Fuzz includes:

Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins), J Mascis (Dinosaur Jr.), Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age, & Kyuss), Jus Oborn (Electric Wizzard), Kurt Cobain,

Scott Hill (Fu Manchu), Poison Ivy (The Cramps), and Steve Hackett (Genesis).

Product Overview
A monolith of a pedal that needs no introduction, the Univox Super Fuzz is an architect in the world of effects that set the bar for what a fuzz should sound like. Incorporating dual germanium diodes and square wave clipping, the controls of Balance (volume) and Expander (fuzz) combined with the two-position tone switch, this effect can be heard in the recordings of artists from Hendrix to the Black Keys to the Smashing Pumpkins. A must-have for any effects collector, this pedal is like finding the Rosetta Stone of fuzz.
